Strip & Flip Snuggle Quilt

Using a great ‘strip & flip’ technique to make a snuggly fleece backed quilt this class is super fun. There is a terrific selection of Disney polar fleece and Minky fabric in store which would be perfect to make up this quilt. (Isn’t the Buzz Lightyear fabric in the photo cute!)

The classes are running at Hobbysew Belconnen on Sat 4 August or Mon 17 September 9.30am – 1pm.  Why not phone to book in 02 6253 0011. Check the Classes tab for more details.

Get Udderly Smooth® Hands at Hobbysew

Udder Cream is a greaseless, stainless water-based moisturizer with a light fresh fragrance which was originally used to soothe irritation on cows udders after milking but was quickly found to work as a treatment for irritated skin on humans.

Today it is used as an everyday multipurpose moisturizing lotion to soften dry skin. The thick cream works right into the skin and amazingly it leaves no residue that will stain fabrics or delicate needlework. And skin immediately feels smooth and soft with no rough, chapped skin to snag on threads making it a favourite with quilters and embroiderers. But best of all, it smells just great!

Learn from a master – Merilyn Pearce.  In a six class workshop you will create 4 stunning square blocks (25.5cm/14”) using needle turn applique, which can then be turned into a beautiful lap quilt or wall hanging.  Or you may choose to do only one block. Either way the blocks are just breath-taking! For more details, click on Figtree classes.

Donations Bin

Posted in Figtree, Uncategorized

Ever wondered what to do with scrap fabric or sewing materials that are still useful but you no longer need?  Well even the smallest scrap of fabric can be used to help a worthwhile cause.

Hobbysew Figtree have a big pink ‘Donations Bin’ located inside the store to accept donations of all kinds:-  fabric, ends of spools of thread, wadding etc.  These donations are then sent to either:-

  • Illawarra Community Charity Quilt Projects
  • Community Cancer Link Projects

where they are made into quilts, applique projects (using small fabric scraps), even soft toys and other craft projects.  The finished items are then sold, raffled or offered as prizes at various functions as a form of fundraising.  No scrap is ever wasted!
