The Hobbysew Family
Everyone had a really fab time at Top Ryde’s recent “Husqvarna Feet Night”. Lindsey is a great teacher and she captivated her audience with her practical approach to demonstrations, made it look effortless and easy for customers to see the benefit in purchasing the different feet.
Rave reviews all round with plenty of people purchasing accessories to make their sewing easier and more fun, and the Husqvarna Club welcomed one new member. So keep an eye on Top Ryde’s class list for upcoming evenings with Husqvarna for your chance to join in.
Janome are huge supporters of Sewaid and have very generously sent along a large donation of machines and equipment to give to women living in extreme poverty, who will be learning to sew at the Katuuso School in Uganda. On behalf of these students, Hobbysew sends a big THANK YOU to Janome for their generosity.
The details for our next Sewaid program to Uganda are now in place and the Team will be going to Uganda in October 2013 to set up a sewing school at the Katuuso School and Community Centre. Additionally, two Team members will be travelling a little earlier than the rest of the team and spending a week in Antananarivo, Madagascar to give machine sewing instruction to the teachers at the Foyer Chrétien des Jeunes Filles. Thank you to all other volunteers who applied for this team. Please visit www.sewaid.com for information on upcoming projects.
On the 1st anniversary of the Sewing for Cancer at Erina, Hobbysew extends its thanks to the kindness and generosity of the volunteers of the monthly sewing group, led by Irene Eves, a cancer survivor and volunteer with the Cancer Council, and to those people who have donated amazing amounts of fabric, which is used to make headwear for cancer patients. These articles are sent to numerous hospitals and this year turbans made for children were an astounding success. New designs are planned including Fleece Hats for adults & children. The sewing group welcomes anyone who would like to help out the sewing group, not just sewing but sorting fabric, ironing, packing, making cups of tea! Ph Hobbysew Erina 4365 1127 for the next sewing day.
